Sonia Douglas is the Chief Marketing Officer for OwnForce, a startup company located in Gainesville. OwnForce.com is an online platform created as a one-stop-shop to support the needs of entrepreneurs during all stages of their business life.
She served as Director of Special Projects at the CareerSource North Central Florida to oversee Startup Quest, a statewide program that provides entrepreneurial training to qualified professionals. For 20 years she worked at the Gainesville Area Chamber of Commerce, serving eight years as Chief Operations Officer.
Sonia has more than 20 years combined experience in business, community and workforce development. She is recognized for high-level strategic thinking, and she is an expert in performance management and efficiency required to create nationally-recognized first class organizations. She can best be described as an architect for successful business, community and workforce development models.
Sonia has been involved with numerous boards and initiatives that have made significant impact on local, regional, state and national levels, including Innovation Gainesville, Startup Quest, Buchholz High School Academy of Entrepreneurship & Finance, and the United Methodist Church of Starke. Sonia also serves on the Florida Association of Chamber Professionals the Alachua/Bradford Workforce Development Board, which was recognized as a Region of Excellence by the Institute for Competitive Workforce at the U.S Chamber of Commerce
Sonia is married to William Douglas, General Superintendent of The Alexander Group, and together they have five children and five grandchildren.
